Date: 13/05/07 9am. I drink a cup of Yamamatoyama organic genmaicha (green tea with brown rice) first thing every morning. I like to enjoy it outside on the rooftop deck when the weather is warm enough.
Date: 13/05/07 My spouse Davin joins me outside with a cup of decaf Earl Grey.
Date: 13/05/07 Our 12 year old cat Voltron: Defender of the Universe (aka Kitty) joins us outside to enjoy the springtime sunshine.
Date: 13/05/07 Our eaves were recently replaced. The workmen left goopy calking traces on surfaces all over the deck. Davin shows me a lucha figure draped by a sticky scarf.
Date: 13/05/07 Gardening is officially a part of my job now -- I no longer have to relegate getting my hands dirty to after work hours. The weather is finally warm enough to plant peas. This is a dwarf variety called 'Tom Thumb' that I am about to plant in an old flour canister. The pre-soaked peas get a quick bath in inoculate, a good bacteria called Rhizobium that helps increase the harvest.
Date: 13/05/07 After a few hours of computer work our neighbour Craig, an illustrator and animator joins us outside for a coffee break.
Date: 13/05/07 Davin enjoys a grapefruit snack.
Date: 13/05/07 Craig drinks a cappuccino. The onions are a gift from my community garden plot.
Date: 13/05/07 We eat a quick lunch and I hop onto the TTC to get to an appointment up north.
Date: 13/05/07 Photographing plants is one of the best parts of my job. This is Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis) one of my favourite native woodland plants.
Date: 13/05/07 I can't resist stopping to photograph a lawn filled with purple violets.
Date: 13/05/07 Returning from my appointment, milling about with anxious fellow passengers at the Dufferin Bus Stop supposedly the busiest line in Toronto and certainly the worst from my experience! It has deservedly earned the nickname The Sufferin' Bus.
Date: 13/05/07 It's just after 6pm and here I am once again waiting for ANOTHER bus. This time I'm headed north east to give a workshop on seed-starting. I'm in a hurry and am busy the second I walk into the venue so I've got to end my picture day here. The workshop goes until about 9:30pm and I get home at around 11pm. It's been another long day.
